The ACUHO-I Executive Board is charged with setting the association’s strategic path and ensuring resources to best meet the needs of the members and profession.
There were four open positions up for election this year for the 2025 Executive Board. Those elected will begin their service on January 1, 2025 and assume either two or three-year terms.
New Executive Board Members in 2025
Four individuals will join continuing board members for two- and three- year terms. The elected board members to begin their terms on Jan 1, 2025, include:
- Michael Griffel, University of Oregon | Vice President (3-Year Presidential Cycle, 2025-2027)
- Brenda Ice, Brown University | Workforce Development Director (3-year term, 2025-2027)
- Barry Olson, Western Michigan University | Facilities & Physical Environment Director (2-year term, 2025-2026)
- Jeff Cooper, California State University, Monterey Bay | Business Practices and Enhancement Director (2-year term, 2025-2026)
Additionally, two ex-officio board members were appointed by 2025 ACUHO-I President, Kathy Bush Hobgood, and will serve one-year terms:
- Chandra Myrick, University of Tennessee, Knoxville | Ex officio, Student Success Director (1-year term, 2025)
- Paul Riel, Boston University | Ex officio, Executive Leadership Director (1-year term, 2025)
Executive Board Position Descriptions
ACUHO-I President
In the final year of a three-year presidential cycle, the President presides over and facilitates all Executive Board meetings. Is the primary liaison between the Executive Board and the ACUHO-I CEO/Executive Director. Represents ACUHO-I at various conferences, events, and partnership meetings. Has the opportunity to appoint up to two ex officio members to the Executive Board. Awards Presidential Service Awards.
ACUHO-I President-Elect
In the second year of a three-year presidential cycle, the President-Elect is responsible for leading the ACUHO-I Strategic Planning process. Assists in the planning of the annual ACUHO-I State of the Profession conference event. Works in tandem with the Vice President to liaise with ad hoc committees or task forces as needed. Coordinates orientation for Board members and committee chairs. Serves as representative to external partners when necessary.
ACUHO-I Vice President
In the first year of a three-year presidential cycle, the Vice President liaises with external association business partners and works in tandem with the President-Elect to liaise with ad hoc committees or task forces as needed. Reviews constitution and accepts primary responsibility for constitutional revision. Serves as the Executive Board liaison to the ACUHO-I Research and Educational Foundation Board of Trustees.
Finance and Corporate Records Officer
The Finance and Corporate Records Officer provides financial oversight for ACUHO-I and association records and chairs the Audit and Finance committees. They ensure that Executive Board meeting minutes are recorded, reviewed, approved, and distributed; make the required financial reports as stipulated in the Constitution; and register members at the annual ACUHO-I Business Meeting.
Business Practices and Enhancement Director
The Business Practices and Enhancement Director provides leadership and direction in ensuring that the association maintains professional standards in its practices with corporate partners. This includes expertise in the areas of marketing, technology, and conferencing as they relate to meeting the changing needs of ACUHO-I members.
Facilities & Physical Environment Director
The Facilities and Physical Environment Director provides leadership in defining and promoting cost-effective, comfortable, safe, secure, and sustainable campus housing environments. This includes expertise in the areas of sustainability, renovation and construction, furnishings, amenity planning and purchasing, residence hall maintenance and operations, safety, and other related resources.
Globalization Director
The Globalization Director provides experience regarding campus housing operations and systems located outside the United States, along with leadership to facilitate ACUHO-I becoming the world’s foremost campus housing authority. The position also brings an understanding of how ACUHO-I’s new or existing products and services will be utilized and perceived by members and customers outside the United States.
Inclusion and Equity Director
The Inclusion and Equity Director provides leadership, support, and coordination to ACUHO-I activities and work groups related to inclusion and equity issues. Supports enhancing the diversity of ACUHO-I’s membership; advocates for under-represented groups within ACUHO-I membership and leadership positions; promotes services, opportunities, and actions that support inclusion and equity.
Knowledge Enhancement Director
The Knowledge Enhancement Director provides leadership, support, and coordination to ACUHO-I activities and work groups related to knowledge enhancement of campus housing professionals. This includes providing expertise in the areas of research, assessment, development of new knowledge, information creation and dissemination, publishing, and connections with graduate programs.
Regional Affiliations Director
The Regional Affiliations Director provides leadership, support, and coordination to activities and work groups related to regional associations. Identifies and articulates issues of importance to regional associations and other constituent groups; creates liaisons with United States regional associations and other affiliated constituents; and works closely with Globalization Director.
Residence Education Director
The Residence Education Director provides leadership, support, and coordination to ACUHO-I activities and work groups related to the student experience and the connection between student and academic affairs. This includes providing expertise in the areas of academic initiatives, active application of current theory and knowledge, student learning, diversity, individual communities, and student development.
Workforce Development Director
The Workforce Development Director provides leadership and expertise to strategic efforts to anticipate and meet workforce demands. This position understands the changing priorities, roles, and demands of the campus housing profession and guides planning to develop opportunities for staff to gain the necessary skills and competencies to serve students. This includes expertise in the areas of continuing education, professional competencies, standards, professional development, and staff recruitment and retention.
