The Behavioral Health and Well-Being Institute
ACUHO-I is launching a new professional development opportunity that focuses on mental health and its implications for campus housing. The Behavioral Health and Well-Being Institute, inspired by the Future of the Profession initiative, will be an extended pre-conference program ahead of ACUHO-I’s Campus Home. LIVE! in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The program, held June 21-22, will focus on skill building and competencies to improve community well-being within residential settings, featuring lessons delivered by expert speakers and faculty. Senior Housing Officer Forum (Large Colleges and Universities)
An opportunity for senior housing officers from housing programs with more 3,000 beds to exchange strategies and resources and to discuss issues that are pertinent to their everyday responsibilities as they honestly reflect and talk with colleagues. The forum gives SHOs from larger housing programs around the world a candid venue for discussion. This is intended to be an intimate setting for sharing ideas, talking over solutions, and building strong professional relationships.
Mid-Level Forum
This is an opportunity for mid-level professionals to exchange strategies and resources and discuss issues pertinent to their everyday responsibilities.
Live-In Forum
Provides live-in campus housing professionals a focused space to engage with peers in like roles who seek promising practices related to student interaction, supervision, community development, advising, professional development, and work-life negotiation and boundaries. Registrants will be led through a moderated experience that will allow for issues dialogue, problem-solving, networking, and skills application through large- and small-group activities.
Next Level Mentorship and Professional Development
This session will clearly define mentorship, professional development, and leadership. Session presenters will facilitate the creation of a personal professional development plan based on ACUHO-I Curriculum and NASPA/ACPA Competencies. This session will be based on a Mid-Level Manager Leadership Program that lead presenter Amber Stultz participated in at Georgia Institute of Technology and Co-Presented a section of this workshop at SEAHO 2022 in Ashville, NC. This presentation will focus on Housing and Residence Life professionals vs. general Student Affairs personnel. The ML2P program at GA Tech highlights understanding leadership styles, project management, and resolving conflict as a mid-level manager based on the book The Ideal Team Player by Patrick Lencioni.
Transformative Curiosity in Campus Housing
In curious companies, innovation and experimentation are proactively pursued. These companies adopt the right organizational mindsets, values, and culture, translating these into conducive processes and practices. Curious companies value, train, and reinforce curious leaders, attract the best talent, and can outpace the competition. Hooydonk’s The Workplace Curiosity Manifesto: How Curiosity Helps Individuals and Workplaces Thrive in Transformational Times and related resources will serve as a framework for mid- and senior-level campus housing leaders to explore the benefits of cultivating curiosity in the workplace. In this interactive session, Hooydonk will make a virtual appearance from Belgium, and we will explore what we know about curiosity from original research. Findings will help attendees examine mindsets, behaviors, systems, and practices associated with curiosity. ACUHO-I’s Future of the Professions Initiative will be spotlighted as a case study for curiosity and as a lens through which attendees can construct action plans to apply their learning in their own context and role. Attendees will be invited to take a free curiosity assessment and will get a report on their curiosity.

Global Symposium
The symposium actively engages both U.S.-based and non-U.S.-based professionals in housing and residence life by focusing on the impact of global contexts of higher education on our operations. The purpose of the symposium is to leverage the strengths of a global professional housing community to be at the forefront of housing and residence life practices. The symposium is an excellent opportunity to build relationships with professionals from around the world through idea-sharing and discussion.
A Res Ed Professional’s Guide to Residence Hall Design
How well do you understand the strategic importance of residence hall design? This interactive workshop will provide eye-opening insight into the process and demystify the impact it has on the student experience. Regardless of your level of experience or area of work, this workshop will provide valuable information to help you better understand and appreciate the hundreds of design decisions that are made while balancing a host of considerations that include the student experience, budget constraints, sustainability, technology requirements, accessibility, and more. At the conclusion, the program participants will possess a foundational understanding of facility design and its connection to student success, understand fundamental concepts within the realm of facilities design in a university context, recognize the impact of individual perspectives and insights on the facilities design process; and how to apply this within different contexts. The next time there is a construction or renovation project on your campus, you will be prepared to reflect and engage with colleagues on action plans and strategies surrounding the hall design. This program is a product of the ACUHO-I Future of the Profession Initiative.

Join this hands-on workshop to provide you with the tools to inspire your campus planning and design efforts to increase well-being and student success. Learn from campuses that have developed and implemented plans unique to their value proposition and physical campus. Participants will have the opportunity to provide input and questions ahead of the conference to ensure the session meets the needs of each participating institution.
