ACUHO-I Foundation Trustee Nominations

Help shape the ACUHO-I Foundation's future leadership.

Serving on the ACUHO-I Foundation Board of Trustees can be the highlight of your housing career. Our Trustee Board has a proven and effective structure and is a dynamic team of individuals committed to fundraising and stewardship that allows the work of ACUHO-I to thrive.

This selection cycle has two Foundation Board Trustee positions available. These positions will commence on January 1, 2025, and the successful candidates will be expected to attend our Foundation Trustee Board Fall Meeting and new board orientation, October 27-29, 2024.

  • Chair-elect (3-Year Cycle, 2025-2027)
  • Vice Chair for Regional Cabinet (3-Year Cycle, 2025-2027)

Election Process Timeline

  • August 8 – Applications due
  • Weeks of August 12 – Selection committee review complete
  • August 20 – Foundation Trustee approval
  • Week of August 26 – ACUHO-I Executive Board review
  • Week of September 16 – Announcement of results

Successful Candidates Should Possess:

  • Prior involvement in ACUHO-I or the ACUHO-I Foundation
  • Trustee members must have a record of lifetime giving of $500 or more and $400 annually while serving as a Trustee
  • Past or current regional involvement
  • Demonstration of stewardship
  • Willingness to leverage relationships (individual or corporate)
  • Fundraising ability or prior experience
  • Awareness of the ACUHO-I Strategic Plan
  • Demonstrate an ability in working well with members
  • Possess other professional involvement
  • Institutional & Financial Support
  • Ability to fund travel 2-3 times a year

Virtual Meeting Schedule

*On occasion these meetings are shifted back a week to accommodate holidays.

  • Trustee Executive Committee: second Tuesday of every month at 4 p.m. ET
  • Foundation Trustee Meeting: third Tuesday of the month at 4 p.m. ET

Opening Position Descriptions

Duties:

  • Moves into the Chair and Past Chair positions in subsequent years;
  • Coordinates the Parthenon Nomination and Selection process during their Chair-elect year
  • Reviews constitution annually and accepts primary responsibility for the Foundation Board Trustee Standard Operating Procedures
  • Serves on the Foundation Trustee Board
  • Serves on the Foundation Board Finance Committee
  • Serves on the ACUHO-I Audit Review Committee
  • Attends Foundation Trustee Board in-person meetings (January/February Winter Meeting, Campus Home. Live!, and October Fall Meeting) and select committee meetings
  • Attends monthly Foundation Trustee Board Conference Call meetings
  • Serves in the absence of the Foundation Board Chair

Skills/Competencies:

  • Convening and providing vision for committees, taskforces, and the Board
  • Public Speaking
  • Designing strategic vision and leading planning efforts
  • Organization & initiative
  • Planning & facilitating meetings both virtually and in-person

Qualifications:

  • Prior involvement in ACUHO-I or the ACUHO-I Foundation
  • Trustee members must have a record of lifetime giving of $500 or more and $400 annually while serving as a trustee
  • Past or current regional involvement
  • Demonstration of stewardship
  • Willingness to leverage relationships (individual or corporate)
  • Fundraising ability or prior experience
  • Awareness of the ACUHO-I Strategic Plan
  • Demonstrate an ability to work well with members
  • Possess other professional involvement

Duties:

  • Coordinate fundraising efforts of the Regional Cabinet members
  • Serve as the liaison to the Association on conference planning for regions
  • Host regularly scheduled calls and in-person meetings and training with regional cabinet members
  • Serves on the Foundation Trustee Board and assigned work groups as necessary
  • Hosts regularly scheduled calls and in person meetings with the Cabinet members
  • Serves as liaison to the Director of Development for their assistance on training, development and coordination of Regional Cabinet fund-raising efforts.
  • Coordinates annual nomination and approval process for new Cabinet members.
  • Serves as liaison to the ACUHO-I central office on conference planning logistics for regions
  • Attends Foundation Trustee Board in-person meetings (January Winter Meeting, Campus Home. Live!, and October Fall Meeting) and select committee meetings
  • Attends monthly Foundation Trustee Board Conference Call meetings
