The ACUHO-I Foundation receives donations from individuals and corporate partners to support resources and programs, empower those working in campus housing and residence life, and engage the broader higher education community.

The ACUHO-I Foundation furthers the development of campus housing by being a good steward of its financial resources and providing opportunities for growth. Along with enabling research and programs, a number of endowment funds improve access to professional development opportunities for those who may not otherwise be able to participate. It is the only organization that raises money for ACUHO-I to fund large-scale educational programs, research initiatives, and practice innovations for campus housing and residence life professionals around the world.

As a 501(c)3 nonprofit, the Foundation receives donations from individuals and corporate partners to help advance the ACUHO-I mission, empower those working in campus housing and the residence life profession, and engage the broader higher education community.

Thanks to donations from organizations and individuals, the ACUHO-I Foundation underwrites various initiatives and resources that move the campus housing profession forward in excellence. Whether it is lifting up groundbreaking research projects or elevating game-changing professional development opportunities, these funds make an indelible impression on the lives of students and staff.

  • Benchmarking Resources: The Campus Housing Index is routinely cited as one of the most valuable resources ACUHO-I offers. The powerful software that powers it and the volunteer expertise that informs the processes rely on the ACUHO-I Foundation for support.
  • Research Grants: Since the program started in 2015, dozens of professionals, faculty, and students have received up to $7,000 in grants to pursue their research projects. This work has led to insightful discoveries that shine a light on housing trends and developments, the evolving student experience, strategies to improve staff retention, and more.
  • Professional Development Scholarships: The ACUHO-I Foundation understands how professional development funds have become less available. In response, an increasing number of scholarships have been created to allow professionals to experience events such as the James C. Grimm National Housing Training Institute or Campus Home. LIVE! when they may have otherwise been unable to.
  • ACUHO-I/NSSE Study: ACUHO-I Foundation grant funding powered a three-year study evaluating how undergraduate students’ residential options—both on and off campus – influence their engagement and persistence. The study combined data from various sources to create a comprehensive picture of how students’ living arrangements influence their participation in effective educational practices and their likelihood of persisting in college.
  • Supporting All Members: ACUHO-I Foundation dollars make possible a number of initiatives that increase opportunities for previously underrepresented populations. By broadening award opportunities, creating programs like the Leadership Academy, and other strategic initiatives, the ACUHO-I Foundation has helped demonstrate that there is a place for everyone in the world of campus housing.
