In today’s higher education world, one doesn’t go it alone. That is why ACUHO-I actively forges partnerships with other associations, organizations, and businesses to better fulfill its role as an indispensable resource for its members. Whether it is other housing associations around the world, corporate entities, or our peer higher education associations, everyone benefits from the power of collaboration.
Strategic Partners
Campus housing touches on a broad range of issues and responsibilities. ACUHO-I enjoys strategic partnerships with organizations to address specific initiatives and to provide services and benefits to our members.
AASHE Sustainability Tracking, Assessment, and Ratings System (STARS)
Recognizing the value of sustainability, ACUHO-I was a founding member of AASHE STARS, a transparent, self-reporting framework for campuses to measure their sustainability performance. The framework helps campuses
- provide a framework for understanding sustainability in all sectors of higher education;
- enable meaningful comparisons over time and across institutions using a common set of measurements developed with broad participation from the campus sustainability community;
- create incentives for continual improvement toward sustainability;
- facilitate information sharing about higher education sustainability practices and performance; and
- build a stronger, more diverse campus sustainability community.
Association for Higher Education Facilities Professionals (APPA)
APPA is a leading resource on campus facility construction, renovation, and maintenance, and many institutions benefit from membership in both associations. ACUHO-I and APPA have collaborated on a number of efforts through the years, most notably the annual ACUHO-I / APPA Housing Facilities Conference held each October.
Benchworks by Elentra
Benchworks by Elentra brings more than two decades of experience in providing valuable surveys that offer in-depth analyses of academic and student programs. Their program assessment and research tools feature expertly written surveys that allow campuses to evaluate a program’s performance and benchmark against peer institutions.
Higher Education Consortium for Student Affairs Certification
The Higher Education Consortium for Student Affairs Certification advances student affairs services, including campus housing, by assessing and recognizing those who demonstrate competency in established domains, commit to professional development, and comply with a code of ethics. The certification features the core student affairs educator certification and six specialty area certifications, which include campus housing and residential life.
MGT Consulting
Campuses count on MGT Consulting to collect and compare enrollment trends with an assessment of a campus’ need for new student housing, renovations, demolitions, or public-private partnership (P3) developments. Their insights help higher education institutions develop master plans that utilize space in ways that support their enrollment and programmatic needs.
NASPA Assessment & Knowledge Consortium
ACUHO-I and seven other student affairs associations, along with Campus Labs, created informative assessment instruments that can be administered during an academic year. That actionable campus-specific and benchmarking data can then be used to shape and enhance programming.
The Placement Exchange (TPE)
ACUHO-I and NASPA teamed up to create The Placement Exchange, the definitive resource for student affairs job seekers and hiring managers. The industry leader provides dynamic information, powerful networking opportunities, and a first-class job placement process.
ResLife.net
Reslife.Net is an online resource that supplements higher education and student affairs departments through its subscription-based services. The Judicial Educator Service provides online courses that educate students who are involved in judicial violations on their respective campuses. In addition, its RAISE System for Academic Integrity Education educates students about academic integrity and cheating.
Peers and Partners
Along with housing, additional aspects of campus life fall under the larger umbrella of student affairs, each with its own representative association. ACUHO-I actively maintains relationships with several of these organizations and associations to help provide members with valuable and related resources.
The Council of Higher Education Management Associations (CHEMA)
